Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Private Pediatric Home Care Nurse to join our compassionate team as a day shift nurse. In this vital role, you will deliver specialized nursing care directly in the homes of pediatric patients with diverse medical needs. Your expertise will ensure safe, effective, and personalized care that promotes health, comfort, and independence for children requiring long-term or acute care. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families while working in a dynamic home environment.

Duties

• Provide comprehensive nursing assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and patient evaluations tailored to pediatric needs.
• Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following strict protocols and documentation standards.
• Manage advanced respiratory support such as ventilators and airway management techniques.
• Perform specialized procedures like tube feeding, trach changes, sterile dressing changes, and medication administration with precision.
• Maintain detailed medical charting while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality policies.
• Collaborate closely with families and caregivers to address complex conditions.
• Conduct ongoing patient assessments to monitor health status and adjust care plans accordingly; triage urgent issues effectively.
• Educate families on medical procedures, medication protocols, equipment use (such as Hoyer lifts), and safety measures to promote independence and confidence in home care settings.
  

Preferred Experience

• Proven experience working with pediatric patients in home health or clinical settings; experience with children who have developmental disabilities is highly valued.
• Critical care experience from hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
• Background in acute care environments such as emergency rooms or urgent care clinics; hospital medicine or skilled nursing facilities experience is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of long-term care regulations, hospice principles, infection control practices, and patient safety protocols.
• Ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams; excellent case management skills are essential.
• Additional neonatal & pediatric certifications.
  

Requirements

• Clean background, fingerprinting, and drug screen.
• Current RN or LPN/LVN license valid for the state of Idaho (compact accepted).
• Current BLS CPR certification.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work effectively with children who have developmental disabilities or complex medical needs.
• Reliable transportation to/from patients home.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology related to pediatric care.
• Familiarity with critical care practices, including but not limited to IV insertion, airway management, and acute pain management.
• Ability to perform physical demands including but not limited to sit, squat, stand, bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and lift/support/carry/transition 50+ pounds (ambulate, pick up, or transfer patients, equipment, and supplies)
